Morganton North Carolina

The Catawba River Greenway winds along the east side of the river in Morristown, North Carolina, north of Morgantown.

The scenic NC 181 South of the Snake takes you 27 miles, past the waterfalls, and increases the route with an out and back spur along Shinny Creek. If you're in Morgantown, check out the Bigfoot Climbing Gym to get your whole family to climb the wall. US Route 64 runs southwest and leads northeast to Lenoir for 15 miles and then south on I-40 parallel to I-40 until it passes through the town of Morristown at the intersection of North Main Street and North Broad Street. After a 2 km ascent, return to your starting point and continue for another 2 km, this time along the Catawba River Greenway, adding distance, height and entering and leaving the foothills of ShinNY Creek for another loop.

As expected, a relaxing afternoon awaits you along the North Fork of the Catawba River, where kayaks and SUP boards can be launched. Bring a chair or blanket and follow the South Fork Rail Trail to it and the narrow arm of the lake that leads to the northern end of Morristown and the town of Morgantown, as well as a few miles of hiking and biking trails.

The City of Lenoir Greenway is one of several terminals that wind through a wooded patch of woodland in the heart of the city. It is parallel to I-26 and includes several miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as a number of picnic spots and picnic tables.

Do not miss the interesting local history museum, which will take you into the rich history of the area. The Historical Museum proudly displays artifacts that date back thousands of years to a time when Indians lived and hunted in the region.

By the end of the 20th century, Morganton and Burke County, which was still largely rural with large poultry farms, became the center of North Carolina's textile industry and an important hub for the cotton industry. This is reflected in the fact that later cotton plantations were owned and other industries followed with the development of cotton textile factories.

Those jobs attracted many new immigrants from abroad to the state, leading to an increase in the area's Latino population. Labor and factory work changed in Morganton and Burke County, where many Latino immigrants worked in low-paying industrial jobs.

Other employers include companies that cater for the many tourists traveling on Interstate 40, such as Dara's S. S., London. Everything they offer comes from the Carolinas, and it includes everything from canned beer to craft bottles to dry stouts. Easy drinking classics, they were brewed to perfection, with new batches and spin-offs coming out every Friday. Lao and Hmong are known for their menus, but they also serve a variety of other ethnic and ethnic dishes - specific dishes from around the world.

If you want to go to the breakfast bar and start early in the city, you are welcome. The family-run Morganton Restaurant is open daily at 6 a.m. and is one of the best breakfast spots in the area. Return to Grind Cafe for hearty burritos, tacos, quesadillas, salads, sandwiches and more.

Wake up early to spend a day hiking, cycling along the trails or paddling in the water at the Morganton Paddleboard Club. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful wooded retreats and picturesque views of the Appalachian Trail and mountains.

The South Fork New River Greenway offers a paved path to the town of Boone, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. Linville Gorge on the Blue Ridge Parkway offers scenic views of the Appalachian Trail, Great Smoky Mountain National Park and mountains.

Interstate 40 runs east from Hickory via Interstate 19 for 31 miles and west via I-40 for 19 miles to Morgantown.

The Boone Greenway is a hidden gem in the town of Boone, and every step you take will take you to a different environment of nature, history and culture. The path of Peavine stretches for 1.5 km and there is plenty of space to relax on the tarpaulin - around the porch. In less than an hour you will be in Asheville, Hickory and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If you have any idea of what to do in Morganton, NC, plan your visit to the Morganton and Burke County website. When you arrive, you should stop at the Center on 110 E. Meeting Street, but don't forget to drop by Hamilton Williams as it is a great place to enjoy good food and good mountain and mountain views.
